Union Square is just three blocks from the hotel and is bounded by Powell, Post, Stockton and Geary Streets. The square is one of the top 4 shopping areas by volume in the United States. Golden Gate Theatre, located just two blocks east of the hotel, is a 2300 seat Beaux Arts Style theatre built in 1922 for the Orpheum circuit. After undergoing a complete renovation in 1979, it has since played host to the "Best of Broadway" national tour, entertaining countless patrons young and old alike. The Moscone Convention Center, located in the urban heart of downtown district, is San Francisco, California's largest convention center and exhibition hall.
